Brickbats and bouquets As one would expect with a fledgling publication, most of our mail so far has been of the Congratulations and Best Wishes type, rather than letters addressing specific issues in these pages. While we glow with pleasure to receive such kudos, modesty warns us not to decorate our egos by setting then forth here in full. But thank you, one and all, for your support. Aside from minor typographical comments, which we have saved for study, the only substantive criticism to date was from a person who felt that Darrell Bross's first-hand review of the vinyl sex doll was unnecessarily gross. Ultimately, of course, we hope to find material to offend every last one of our readers; so we regard Darrell's article as only a start. But more seriously, the reason we accepted and printed it -- in contrast to similar material which we have rejected -- was that it was factual and revealed something significant about the culture in which we live. People do buy such things as vinyl sex dolls, and not just to laugh at them. Perhaps this just means that life as we know it is gross. But we feel that a magazine intended to reflect the wide range of Mensan interests should include such subjects, as long as they are well-diluted by the million other facets of human experience.
