A rumor is going around that the Titanic has been found, but is going to be allowed to rest on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the tragic sinking. Another rumor is going around...
[quoteright]"What do you mean, there are two kinds of animal on board? This is supposed to be the S.S. Titanic, sunk on April 15, 1912 after scraping an iceberg, taking 1,513 people with it. There is no mention of animals making the voyage!"
"As an archaeologist, I can certainly tell the difference between a human skeleton and, say, a feline skeleton, and all these skeletons belonged to cats, dogs, lions, monkeys and the like."
"And you're sure there are exactly two of each?"
"Of course, I'm sure. Some of the females were pregnant at the time of the accident, but none had yet given birth."
"Do you realize what this means?"
"The Turks are going to have our hide."
"This is obviously Noah's Ark. Now no tourists will be clambering up Mt. Ararat to look for it."
"A lot of God's representatives on earth are going to have some explaining to do, too."
"We've got to call off this whole operation. We can't go in there."
"How? It's already gotten worldwide press coverage."
"Say insurance complications would be insurmountable. Say the project's cost would be too high. Say once we opened up the ship, everything would turn to ashes and dust. Say we're leaving it on the bottom as a memorial to the dead, a permanent tombstone. Say anything, but don't go in that ship."
"But if it is the Titanic, there could be a fortune on it."
"And if Noah's Ark isn't really high on Mt. Ararat...."
"Nearer, my God, to thee. They sang that as the Titanic was sinking, didn't they? Maybe we should look for that on Mt. Ararat."
Would that satisfy the Fundamentalists? Probably not. Not unless the Ark of the Covenant and the Pharaoh's chariots were found with it. So the "Titanic" was declared off limits and people still scale Mt. Ararat searching for Noah's Ark.
Faith can move mountains.
