like a rainbowed whisper
it murmurs through
the mountain mist

slips between damp molecules
slides down the Santa Cruz Valley

floats out
over the reach of giant saguaro

to dissipate
in the desert


SHERYL L. NELMS, balloonist and multiply-published poet, took the time to send us a post card from Tucson, AZ. It shows five fire-engine red chickens, four electric blue, and three chrome yellow. It's something about the desert air, apparently.
