Each day out spading around
the last two massive figures.
I call this one 'Dream' and that one 'Life.'
Don't you agree they belong
in a hillside plot of artichokes?
Here I will live my last days
above the sea, building
my house/my garden. Voltaire in California!
When my wife died, I came here,
the artistic work was over. Life can be
chipped away more easily than stone.
My young friend (I tell him
I am leaving) take your time, do nothing foolish.
