News Scroller

Welcome to Tod's Tips Display date Tell-A-Friend Local Weather & Time News Scroller Search your website Add Newsfeeds!

This page illustrates how a page will look after you've inserted an

HTML Snippet into a SB Xtra  that will display a scrolling news

ticker as illustrated to the right.  You can edit the items that

comprise the "news," as well as several display parameters

(background color, font family, font weight, font color, height and

width).

News items can have URLs or email addresses associated to any

item.  Clicking on an item with a link will either link you to that

URL or bring up an email window pre-addressed to whomever you

wish.

Moving the mouse over the scroller will pause the scrolling action.

News items that have no links also have no horizontal line

separating the item from the next item.  To get around this, simply

add a link to the current page!

REMEMBER: The page that contains this PHP code MUST have

the .php filetype rather than .html .  Many thanks to Hagen for

giving me an early release of 2.0.1, which allows renaming the

extension from .html to .php in the Page Setting pane of the

Content tab.  This slight change now opens up a whole new world

of customization for those comfortable with uploading PHP stuff to

their host and adding the necessary code (usually just an "include"

statement) to an Xtra.

Those of you interested can access the control panel for this

scroller and edit or add your own cute messages.  Go here and

enter test for the userid and test for the password.  Then simply

edit any of the news items and links.  Optionally add your

XtraLean screen name so we can see who's chicking this out.

Name:  HNT - Hiox News Ticker

Developer:  HIOX India

*The basic script is free and quite usable.  The developer offers a

web-based admin panel to easily edit the news.  Without this panel

you'll need to edit a plain text document and save it back to your

server.

This is a great script - but that ain't news!
