Greetings Ecphorizer Subscribers!

We'll be the first to admit that it's been a long two years since the last time we published an RSS feed. Too many things have happened to describe fully here but we want to give you an update on where things are.

The Good News:

We have been busy little beavers here at Eck central and are pleased to let you know that the complete collection of the "Towner Era" of 70 print issues has been scanned, run through the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process, and uploaded to The Ecphorizer web site. Just select "Printed Issues" from the menu bar to the left and scroll through the years and issue numbers to select the issue you wish to read.

More Good News:

We have also been fortunate in obtaining printed copies of the remaining issues: #71 - 82 (with Mike Eager editing and publishing), and #83 - 92 (with Rod Baker taking up the reins).

We have already scanned these issues and, after a month or two break, we will begin processing each of these issues. As we do this, we'll try to publish the occasional RSS feed to let you know.

We haven't forgotten about the Online series of articles unpublished by The Ecphorizer; we just want to complete the job of uploading the printed series.

Site Bonuses:

With the help of a couple of programmers we've added a few details to the site to provide our visitors some bonus material:

Print and Email. You can now select an icon at the bottom of each page and format the page for printing on your printer (or save it to PDF, and to send an email notification to your friends about a particular article.

Comments. You can now register and enter comments about any article, or about the site itself. The registration process is easy and you can slick on a link at the bottom of each article to write a comment.

Other items by an author. Beginning with Issue 53 we began inserting a link in each article's "About" section. This link will brink up a list of other contributions by that author in case you wanted to read further items. Over the coming months we'll be adding these to the rest of the pages until all articles will have such "further reading" links.

Layout Bonus 1 - Call-out boxes. The call-out (quotation) boxes that formerly graced the top of most stories are now placed within the story in the first few paragraphs.

Layout Bonus 2 - Lengthier stories no longer span multiple pages. We've consolidated all articles into single pages. Gone are the "Continued on next page" arrows.

One more thing: All stories in George Towner's Ecphorizations book are now online. Go here to view the Table of Contents.

We hope you like the changes and the great reading published by The Ecphorizer.

Scanning, OCR, general organization, and text editing are all done using DEVONthink Pro Office from DEVONtechnologies.

Dear Ecphorizer Reader,

Print Issue #41 of The Ecphorizer has been uploaded and is ready for your reading enjoyment.

This issue might be subtitled, The Word Usage Issue as four of the five contributions in the Articles section cover usage, dictionaries, and just plain strange words and phrases. Gareth Penn continues his string of 41 consecutive contributions to The Ecphorizer with a story about a gun. Sharon Dario checks in with a bit of poetry and Lottie Fish-Bate continues unabated in her attempt to prove that writing can be Brownian motion. Then-Editor Dick Amyx elevated Lottie's ramblings to the "Satire" department.

Print Issue #40 of The Ecphorizer has been uploaded and is ready for your reading enjoyment.

Lottie Fish-Bate continues unabated in her attempt to prove that writing can be Brownian motion. Former Editor of The Ecphorizer John Cumming dropped off another dictionary review, and Meredy Amyx reviews Stephen King, in an attempt at nepotism; Gareth Penn and Paul W. Healy round out the feature contributors. Allen Pettit returns from a too-long absence with another great short story.

Print Issue #37 has been uploaded and is ready for reading!

Look what we have for you this time:

Paul Healy takes time out from his recounting of events at Worldview to provide insight into some Greek deities, Gareth Penn continues his record-breaking pace with Part II of interesting things at Goose Pond, and Katharine Mitchell sends her last letter from Suriname as she will be posted elsewhere.

Bill Harvey, Susan Packie and Myra Johnson link up with Andy Fish's cousin Lotte for some humorous sketches. And this issue is loaded with poetry, some of it the erotic kind with authors too numerous to mention.

Stop by and enjoy the reading!
