Keeping Up Appearances

Issue #45 (May 1985)

Once my energy alone
could give things meaning.

Now I must be more cautious
both in the questions
and in the answers.

If I don't convince myself
I must at least fool myself.

Whole years I've got through
simply by telling myself I had to.
