The Ecphorizer

Issue #45 (May 1985)

the beets are ready

plumped and shouldering
out of their rows

I pull them

shake them
tumble them
into my basket

tussle them to the back porch

dump them
hose them
plop them

back into the basket

carry them to the kitchen
to can

my rubies of summer
