Hi Tod,
 
I enjoyed your "Assignment in Croyden".
 
An item missing from your story is that Croyden is the home of the official RAF Museum. The town was also the site of the airfield that was used for aircraft development/testing before and during WWII. When I visited the museum in '78 one could still tell where the landing strip had been, efven though most of the site had been covered by a large development of bungalows. An excellent museium, too, I thought.
