The Ecphorizer
The Guns of May |
Jerry McCann |
Issue #09 (May 1982)
May surrounds herself with flora
Welcomes snow geese homeward bound;
But deceptive is this aura;
May has values quite profound.
May dared risk her flowered image,
And her scarlet baton twirled
From the very opening scrimmage
Of the Workers of the World.
May regards as Great Achiever
He who Man would liberate;
Heroes like Sirnon Bolivar,
May has time to celebrate.
May's ambivalence keeps showing
On her own Memorial Day
With rifle's crack and bugle's blowing
And rose roses, all the way.

Jerry (Gerald Aloysius Kevin Costello) McCann, the bard of San Jose Mensa, takes frequent rests from his dithyrambic ecstasies to muse over his merit badges in swimming, life-saving, and woodworking.
