They said we never quarreled;
little disagreements were unimportant...
they were wrong.

We said we were a quiet family,
content with fireside, never restless...
we were withering.

He said he had a fine sense of humor
and I didn't; always "teasing"...
he was insecure.

He said not to worry;
always macho, it couldn't happen to him...
it did.

I said I thought that independence
was the only true security...
I am not lonely.
